چکیده

Calcium fluoride (111) single crystals for ultra violet applications have been finished to flat by the float polishing process with 7nm-diameter silicon dioxide powder, pure water and a tin lap. The flatness of 32nm P-V on 90-mm-diameter samples that had a surface roughness of 0.72 nm Ry, and 0.077 nm rms were obtained. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy study of the cross-sectioned crystal surface showed that the float-polished surface had (111) plane with small atomic steps, and no subsurface defect. The polished surface roughness depends on the mismatch between the sample surface and the (111) plane. This result was also verified by scanning probe microscope observation.

High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy Study of Calcium Fluoride Single Crystal (111) Surfaces Processed by Ultraprecision Machining

The microstructure of a mechanically finished calcium fluoride (CaF2) was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The (111) oriented surfaces of high-purity CaF2 single crystals were finished to a flat surface by ultra-precision mechanical polishing. A float polishing method—with 7-nm-diameter silicon dioxide powder, pure water, and a tin lap—was employed for the finishing. Prior to ...

Float-polishing process and analysis of float-polished quartz.

A fluid-mechanical model is developed for the float-polishing process. In this model laminar flow between the sample and the lap results in pressure gradients at the grooves that support the sample on a fluid layer. The laminar fluid motion also produces supersmooth, damage-free surfaces. Quartz substrates for applications in high-stress environments were float polished, and their surfaces were...

Detection of Polymer Brushes developed via Single Crystal Growth

Single crystals consisting various surface morphologies and epitaxial structures were applied to investigate the effect of other phase regions in the vicinity of a given tethered chains-covered area having a certain molecular weight of amorphous brushes. The designed experiments demonstrated that regardless of the type of surface morphology (patterned and especial mixed-brushes, homo and co...

GROWTH OF ZnS SINGLE CRYSTALS BY CVT TECHNIQUE UNDER DIFFERENT MASS TRANSPORT STABILITY CONDITIONS

Abstract: A thermodynamic model was used to find out the optimum temperature for the growth of ZnS single crystals in closed ampoules by chemical vapor transport technique. Based on this model 1002 °C was found to be optimum temperature for 2 mg/cm3 concentration of transporting agent (iodine). ZnS Crystals were grown in optimum (1002 °C) and non-optimum (902 °C and 1102 °C) temperatures. The c...

Investigation of Different Stages of Aluminum Fluoride Crystal Growth

Crystallization of Aluminum fluoride at atmospheric pressure has been considered. Structure, size and shape of crystals formed during the crystallization process have been investigated. By applying the direct analysis method for the existed aluminum in solution, the aluminum fluoride nucleation process has been detected as a concentration valley at the outset of crystallization process. The...
